L.A

I have to admit that it was very exiting to book a ticket to L.A.
For me, little countrywoman from South West of France, going to Los Angeles, California, feels kind of awesome :)
So i've left San Francisco for 4 days to see L.A "for real".
It's a bit like you have the right to see a dream in reality. You saw this place, again and again through movies and one day, BOOM, here you are.
It's a little difficult to give a real feed back when you spend only 4 days in a city this HUGE, but here are my first impressions.

To optimize my time,  i surprised my self jumping in a tourists double decker bus that offered a tour of the city. From Santa Monica to Hollywood Blvd, i traveled the city with commentaries in my headphones like : " On your left, Marylin Monroe's house, on your right Greta Garbo's favorite Hotel, and just right here is where Leo DiCaprio makes his grocery shopping", well.
Weird feeling to cross the same road as big names of the cinema did :)

The beauty of people is the first thing that hit me here, esthetic is definitely a big deal in L.A and you really feel different when you go out in Hollywood on a Saturday night :)
It's a particular type of beauty though .... Its like people just jumped off a fashion magazine and so that makes things kind of bland.
Then i came here probably on the warmer weekend of winter, so of course, it feels kind of crazy to burn (yes, burn) on the beaches of Venice and Malibu in the beginning of March.
Other obvious thing : arriving from SF, a bike city, i can definitely say that L.A is a car city, traffic is craaaazy here !
I learned to appreciate Margarita's, Mexican cuisine and discovered awesome Cocktails and of course very cool beaches, but i also experienced here my first earthquake ever, magnitude 4.4 ...
I confess that i screamed a little... I totally freaked out actually .

A few places you should try : first, a place you HAVE to try if you visit L.A : Gjelina, probably the better food experience i had in California ( don't miss the butterscotch pot de creme : heaven in your mouth).
Around the corner Bar, awesome Cocktails, the ginger beer is homemade here (do we have ginger beer somewhere in Europe ??)
Deus ex Machina a hip coffee shop from where i am writing this article.
Paco's Tacos has reconciled me with Margaritas and Tacos here are just delicious, homemade tortillas !
Cafe Habana Malibu if you want to drink a Strawberry Daiquiri in the middle of the afternoon after the beach (the more i am writing this article, the more i realise how much i drank this week end...)
To finish i want to say that i've been very well welcomed here, again. American people are just so welcoming so THANK YOU !!!!
I know now that L.A is not really my jam but i still spent 4 pretty intense and interesting days that i wont forget and i would like to come back to dive a little more in the culture of the city.

I leave you here, it's time for me to fly back to my beloved San Francisco.
